Stuck on "Waiting to download"

So I got the notification that the 5.1 update was available for download. I clicked the notification, and the update screen appeared. It says "Waiting to download" and has been like that for hours. I've even restarted the tablet, but there it sits. Any ideas?

Please don't do anything! Just let it run its course. I had the same experience. It is probably doing some system checks before downloading. It'll display that message for a few minutes, then switch to "now downloading" when everything is ready. Restarting could delay things.

There might also be some issues on the server side. If it's still doing this after a week or so, then try wiping the cache partition: http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...e-nexus-7-2012-2013-cache-partition-wipe.html

This is the unspoken rule when downloading an OS upgrade. Thanks for pointing that out, Rukbat, for those who may not know. A weak connection can really delay the upgrade or prevent it from downloading/installing properly, especially one that's 169.7 MB like this one. Remember, it's not just doing an upgrade. It has to prepare your device to receive it, including checking/updating the apps. I salute you, Rukbat!

Had the same problem, system was in limbo for about 4 hrs then let me install. I have no idea what it was doing for that long.

I would guess it had something to do with the number of devices receiving the upgrade.

Had to wait about 20 minutes in "waiting to download" limbo, but it finally kicked off, and I'm upgraded now.
