Stupid question - does updating to 5.1.1 close your chrome tabs?

So my wife uses open tabs as bookmarks which results in the fairly predicable "disaster" several times a year when somehow all of her chrome tabs get closed. She has well over 100 tabs open (FYI when you have more than 99 tabs the little square just has a happy face instead of the number of tabs).

I want her to update to 5.1.1 because of some issues she's having with her phone. Can anyone confirm the process doesn't close all of the chrome tabs? I know going into the bootloader and clearing cache doesn't close the tabs but I need to make sure or else the opposite of "happy wife, happy life" will come true in the Clocks household.

I'm not sure if it will close them, but I wouldn't update with all that open. Oh and why won't she just tap the star at the top?

If she want to keep track of those tabs, she can use Bookmarks, Pinterist or Pocket to save them and recall them as she likes without worrying about loosing them. Plus you can access them on a computer whenever she wants. Makes life simpler.

An OTA tries to maintain any and all app data you may have, including the open tabs in Chrome, but there is no guarantee that they won't get purged at some point in the process.

I suggest that she rely on some other means of saving those pages.

Worst case, those sites will be in her history.

This is how I feel when I tell her to do that.

If any of you would like to try she's really nice and super cute. Stubborn though.

Well my mom is that way and calls me with tech issues. When she wouldn't listen, I had to let her learn the hard way and refuse to help her until she promised to do what I told her..
