I read somewhere that you don't have to use the $80 stylus with the Flyer. Supposedly, there are cheaper versions made for other devices that utilize the same technology. Has anyone tried to use a different stylus?

I don't have a Flyer, but I am considering getting one for my daughter.

The operative word being supposedly.

I think even if you find one that uses the same digitizer, there's still the issue of the buttons. The Flyer's stylus has two buttons that erase or highlight.

Lenovo X201T is a Wacom pen, so I wouldn't expect it to work with the Flyer's N-Trig panel.

The pen possibilities that Engadget threw out there awhile back were the pen from the HP Slate 500, and the pen from the Fujitsu Lifebook T580, both of which are made by N-Trig using the same DuoSense tech.

No guarantees, but...

No guarantees, but Motion Computing just came out with their CL900 and it also uses an N-Trig digitizer. Their pen has one button as opposed to the two on the pen from Best Buy. But Motion Computing's pen is really cheap by comparison.

I can't guarantee that it will work on the HTC Flyer, but it's only $24.99. Link

I'm using a targus stylus, which is essentially the same as using you finger. No buttons, but it works well for taking notes, and allows me to select small elements on the screen, that my fat fingers cannot. I got it at bestbuy for 15 bucks. I believe it's capitance technology.... The downside is that it has no extra features that the buttons provide....I have been using this for nearly 2 months, with my IPad...works great on that too. Also Wacom just introduced a stylus with an even finer point, that I plan to get shortly.

Any n-trip dual digitizer stylus---the ones with the Motion CL 900, Fujitisu Q550 or HP Slate 500 all work. They have only one button that serves to highlight and no eraser button. And they are much less expensive.

None of my windows tablet pens work on the HTC.
Lenovo X43
Fujitsu Lifebook T5010
A.T. Cross

Nor do their pens work on the HTC Flyer.

I just received the Fujitsu N-Trig stylus. It worked perfectly with the DuoSence software. The single button hi-lighted text. The lack of the ereaser button is not a problem because you can select an ereaser on the pallet.

The stylus appears to be the same as the htc minus the second button. I only payed $25 plus shipping.

Nice! If I ever lose my HTC pen I know what replacement I'll be getting. What site did you order the Fujitsu pen from?

You can also get it from PC connection for under $30. Or from Amazon for a little bit more. Just search for the part number listed in this thread.

I have the Fujitsu pen and it works as advertised. I prefer the erase mechanism so hopefully someone figures or how to swap the button functions.

I tried the stylus from my lenovo x201 tablet - doesn't work.
Don't waste your time on any other stylus but the STYLUS-R-US stylus. I have the BIG SCREEN and TERMINATOR and both are awesome. No pressure at all is needed and they work great on my Flyer. Just Google the name
