SUCCESS!!!

I got Swype to work on my NC, running Honeycomb off the SD card.

Took a lot of trial & error with the build.prop, but it works for me.

(I attached my build.prop with a .txt extension just so that it would attach in the forum. Strip off the .txt extension & have at it)

I have no idea if it works on anything other than Honeycomb.

Switched over to my nook...

Anyway, the key was using the build.prop to trick the Swype software into thinking this thing is a Samsung tab running FroYo, which is officially supported by Swype... Even if it is actually a nook color running honeycomb.

The build.prop file goes into the system folder, as normal. I forget if this Swype was the Tab version or the one I downloaded from the Swype beta.

In any case, the thing is working just fine now
:D

There is a version floating out there that works on Eclair, Froyo, Honeycomb without editing your build prop. It was discussed in a locked thread at XDA.

I'm just curious, do people really want swype on a tablet? I can barely stand it on my 4" phone in portrait. Just seems like a lot of space to swype over. Thumb keyboard has been treating me well.

I'm of the same mind as E_Man. I thought about Swype on the Nook, but Thumb keyboard is really good. I don't mind banging out a few e-mails at all now.

All a matter of preference, I guess.

I have a 3G BB Bold 9700, plus a LG Optimus V (Froyo). Even with a physical keyboard, I find Swype to be the better input method for me. I'm faster & more accurate with Swype (and I am cranking this out on my BB right now, so it's not like I'm uncomfortable with a BB). I even like Swype in landscape on my Nook!

Swype is one of the things where Android really trumps the Apple iProduct UI experience, IMO. Swiping across the touchscreen is better for me than tapping BB keys, and better than tapping the screen... But everyone's input device tastes can certainly vary.

Strange, when I use this build.prop then the marketplace app is missing. If I revert my build.prop then the market comes back. I double checked the permissions and owner and all looks good. Has anyone else had problems?

I don't have the issue with the Marketplace app.

It might be related to these lines:
ro.build.description=harmony-eng 2.2 FRF91 eng.build.20100909.225956
ro.build.fingerprint=nvidia/harmony/harmony/:2.2/FRF91/eng.build.20100909.225956:eng/

I'm tempted to monkey with them some more, myself. They should be the toggles for what Market says you can download/install to your machine... and, obviously, running HC/3.0 isn't running Froyo/2.2.

Also, the Swype apk that I used is from here:
tegratab.com • View topic - Swype on Gtablet (kinda)

The beta download didn't work. (I am reinstalling my HC onto a new Class 6 microSD card)

I loaded into my color nook and got the error message that the Swype package installed does not match the screen size of the device...
:'( Swype is the one thing that would make my color nook/honeycomb tablet complete.

That's strange, it worked for me..If you desperately need swype, then try SlideIt Keyboard from Market, it works for nook with no torubles and does a great job. I didn't miss swype using SlideIt. Both are functionally the same.

I just dled the above linked .apk and installed it on CM7 TT and it works perfectly so far for me.

Thanks, I installed the one Ihtfp69 posted last night and it worked great.
