Sudden drop in battery performance

I was averaging 19 hours per charge with 5 hours of screen on time over the past 6 months. Suddenly, the battery performance dropped by nearly 40% to about 10 hours w/ 3 hours of SOT.

I've done a factory reset. None of my apps are sucking power (aside from the android kernel at 17%, a few of the apps will are 2-5%, and the rest are under 1%,

The phone is 10 months old.

Is this due to typical aging of the battery, or might there be something else I should check?

Thanks.

Sounds like something is wrong. At 10 months it's still under warranty. Contact Motorola

It may be due to I the 5.1.1 update I cant see this phone having a battery issue mine has dropped too but after the update reset had help

My battery life has recently gone to hell. Consistently getting less than 2 hours SOT when I was getting 4.5-5 hours up until about a week ago. Not sure what the deal is.

I too have noticed battery life suddenly drop since a few days ago. No difference in my usage. Android System shows as the top battery hog. Wasn't there a new version of Google Play Services that pushed out recently? Maybe that could be the issue?

Here are some examples of my battery life today. I have never seen it drop as fast as it has this morning.

For me bluetooth seems to be using way more power that it use to. And I have not paired any new devices.

Thanks. I looked at the battery stats from Android (not GSAM), and saw that Bluetooth was keeping the phone awake almost the entire time it was on. I will try turning it off tomorrow and see how that affects battery life.

Mine has also dropped badly. It seems to have coincided with the most recent monthly security update Google pushed.

What build are you on? I am on LMY48I. Turning off bluetooth during the day has helped a little, but still no where close to how the battery used to be.

Battery life has taken a hit for me since the LMY48M security update as well. I deleted all app cache data and wiped the cache partition from recovery... made zero difference on my device.

I have had a similar experience with system updates in the past. Usually, battery life improves after a few days use (as long gone as you don't mash the freak out button and start making a bunch of system level changes before things have a chance to level off) .

If the battery life doesn't return to normal after 4-5 days, then I'll start looking into it. No need to start looking for the pitchforks just yet.

Since I updated a few days ago to the security fix LMY48M, I am also having a HUGE difference in battery, I lose 25% from a full charge at 11pm and wake up at 6am with nothing running. I have had my nexus 6 since January and battery has been great but now it is horrible. If it doesnt change soon then I am looking at a Silver Blackberry Passport :)

I upgraded to build LMY48M last night. So far today battery life seems close to where it was before. I kept Bluetooth on today and did not notice the large battery drain. So I am almost back to normal.

I'm on the newest build LMY48M. Been about a week now and still having much worse battery life than it was prior to the update. I've even tried the clearing cache for play services as mentioned above, still no help. It certainly looks like Google did something that's messed it up with the most recent update.

I take back what I said. Today Bluetooth kept my phone awake ever since I took it off the charger. I will just have to turn Bluetooth off while I am not using it.

Or don't use it. I had the same issues I had to stop using Bluetooth when Lollipop came out so now I keep all my speakers plugged in when listening.

Well, I use it mainly in my car for phone calls and streaming music, but that is ok since I am using a car charger. I will just get in the habit of turning Bluetooth on / off when getting in / out of the car.
