Suddenly, horrible battery life

For some reason, all of a sudden, I've gotten horrible battery life. Today and yesterday the phone can't even last 6 hours before going dead. While at work I turn off wifi, bluetooth, dim the display, and turn off GPS.

This has always worked fine in the past but yesterday and today, my phone will die by the time I leave the office. Any ideas as to why it's doing this? I even use my task killer app to kill any open apps but still to no avail.

You didn't upgrade the FaceBook app did you? I've seen a lot of complaints about yesterdays update not letting the phone sleep and killing batteries.

I did that this morning but that wouldn't explain yesterday's short battery life.

Go into Settings > Applications > Running Services. See what all is in there that you can shut down. I was having awful battery life too until I found a bunch of services in there that I didn't need.

Add any widgets? I got rid of a few of them and suddenly instead of 5 hours I am getting 7-8 off the charger...

Of course, I still ordered a ZAGG Sparq to get me through long days...

Yeah I'm gonna get rid of some of my widgets.

Is there an app that will let you know which apps/widgets are draining the most charge from your battery?

I upgraded to the new Facebook yesterday and today my X died on the way home from the office (and today it was used even less than normal). On prior days I'd get home with at least 40% (or more) left. I turned off all the notification crap in the new FB app tonight. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

advanced task manager the free one not advanced task killer will take care of that. Ive had that on my phone since sunday mornin and what an improvement and I did update yest the new facebook and still great battery. took off charger this morning at 7am,16 hours later im at 70% but i think its getting ready to go down to 60% and I used alot today especially playing with the new facebook app I wont put on charge till tomorrow night. this has been like this since sunday every other night charging its great Verizon helped me with that. I hit the kill switch twice a day.

Tried ATK for a day and uninstalled it - felt like it bogged my X down and actually used more battery. Android OS handles running apps fine w/o using a task killer from what I've read. I'll have a look at Advanced Task Manager though...

The new FB app has a bug that prevents all Android phones from sleeping.
