In the last few weeks my phone won't receive texts from new contacts I added or from numbers not in my contacts. And whenever I try sending a message to a new contact, the messaging app forces close and never sends it. My memory is almost full and I'm just about to try to put in a bigger SD card to see if it fixes it. But I deleted some contacts and messages/chats and it still hasn't worked.
Suddenly not letting me send or receive texts from new contact.

I am just making sure your phone is a Samsung Stratosphere.

OK. Try rebooting into recovery to clear the system cache.
What I found online was, power off the device, hold both volume up and down with power. Release when you see the Samsung logo.

I just did this, and the messaging app still forces close when I try to text someone who isn't already in my messages

OK. Maybe trying a different messaging app? A lot of people like Textra.
