Super Clean Rom (Dj05) Version 0.8

Great. Probably good to do that initial back up. Sounds like you are on your way. Cool deal. Once you are back up and running with your newly installed Rom, let us know. If you decide to flash kernels, you definitely don't need to bother with wipes and back-ups with those. Just make sure you keep up on what Rom's you have installed (e.g. dj05 kernels with dj05 roms, etc).

oh ok so can u explain what a kernel is and the benifits for getting a new one i guess lol... im new im sorry lol

ooohhhh! maybe thats why i got the fc loop. i did the kernel right after the rom, and i did not do a reset and wipe.

where did you get the option to select your phone? i flashed the stock version of dj05 through first. then super clean a couple of days later through rom manager. i just selected super clean 0.9 and hit download, and rom manager did the rest. i didnt have to select a phone. i dont supposed it matters too much. i am just courious.

I am referring to setting up Rom Manager for the first time. You press "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" at the top of Rom Manager. You are then given a list of phones to choose from. You choose your phone and then you are ready to rock with Rom Manager. Not sure what you did to get it working. As far as I know, it's a crucial step.

No, problem. I am still learning myself (just a bit ahead of the curve on ya) so I'll do my best to explain what a kernel is. From what I understand, the kernel is a process of communication between hardware and software specifically the CPU.

Developers tweak this communication process allowing for better and swifter communication between your phones CPU and applications. They can also tweak memory settings and do some things to help with battery life. Developers are always tweaking the Kernel to get the best performance out of the phone.

If you haven't already noticed, the battery life out of stock Fascinate with all the bloatware is not good. I have seen significant improvement in battery life with the combination of a "cleaner" Rom and better kernel.

SOTK, this is very off topic, i notice in your favorite apps you have listed "You Version Bible". i was courious (i am curently using live Bible) so i looked on the market and did not find it. first of all is it a Bible as in Word of God, if it is have you compared it to other Bible apps and what do you think of it? second, did you get it?

If memory serves, under "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" in Rom Manager, it should be blank underneath. After flashing ClockworkMod, it should state "Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 2.5.1.0". If you have that, you flashed it. If it's blank, you didn't.

ok its done i like it so much better than stock. lol. transitions from pages are alot smoother now, and not really any lagg.thanks you guys for the help

Awesome! Good deal. I'm sure you'll love your phone even better now!

No problem. Yeah, it's the Word of God. I like it because you can choose from many translations and some you can actually choose to download to your phone for offline access. Plus, there are contribs, reading plans, etc. I used this same Bible software when I was a blackberry guy. Do a search for "Bible" on the Market. Look for "LifeChurch.tv". This is the You Version Bible App. but for some reason it's listed at "LifeChurch.tv". Let me know if you still can't find it and i'll send it to you or something. Glad to see there are some "brothers" on here!

stupid fast performs very well for me. its the only one i have tried other that the stock, and i do see some speed improvements.

glad you got it workin,
just think all this touble you got into you had to get yourself out of,
your better off because of it
dont forget to pass along what you learn

Why not? By the way, what Superclean do you have? Are you rocking DJ05 or are you still on DI01? DI01 is the build most people have been running on their phones for a couple of months. DJ05 is new (also not official but works awesome).

I recommend flashing Geeknik's StupidFast Kernels. He has three currently on Rom Manager. There is one for DI01, a stable one for DJ05, and a test one for DJ05. It's probably safer to stick with the stable ones although the test one isn't bad. It's the one I'm currently rocking.

Let me know if you have any questions.

got it. lol it just says bible! very nice. it looks like it has a good bit more to coose from than live bible. i came to planet droid from a samsung omnia windows mobile 6.1 phone (and i dont care what anyone says it was GREAT phone!!!!!), i used pocket bible from laridian and loved it but they dont have an android app. i have been looking for a replacement. Thanks.

mms.apk is FC'ing after I flashed the DJ05 update from XDA. Found out it only happens if there are images or video in the message.

Using JT's superclean .9 and StupidFast test 12-15. Changing the kernel and the rom didn't seem to affect it...

what do you mean "lost your bluetooth". do you not have a option at all or are you just missing a bluetooth app?
