Super slow-mo extremely dark - hardware defect?

So I thought my S9 was completely fine on the hardware side. The camera performs well in just about every mode, but I finally tried Super Slow-Mo mode today and everything was extremely dark, even in well-lit rooms.

I came across a Reddit thread with others having the same issue. If it's a hardware defect, how come everything is bright in every other camera mode?

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing on their S9?

You basically need good out door sunlight or studio lighting if you're indoors. What feels like a well lit room to us is still dark to most camera sensors.

Super-slo-mo means super-short-exposure, so you need a larger lens opening (which you can't do in a cellphone) or more light.

Alright, I guess it must not be a hardware problem then. Good to know. Thanks for the replies.

It's not a defect in the hardware. It's a limitation of the hardware. Mine actually worked fine when I tried it outdoors today.

A couple of points:

- the video is relatively low res, only 720p
- you need super good lighting. Think about it for a moment. At 960 FPS you have a crazy fast shutter speed. You’re going to need good lighting conditions to get anything decent
