Superuser 2.2.2 - Lost Root - ROM Manager

I just recently got everything working perfectly other than my superuser. In order to get wifi tethering to work, I would have to reapply the superuser permissions each time I wanted to use it. Not that big of a deal, but thought it would be nice if I didn't have to do that each time. I went into ROM manager and saw an updated version for superuser. I thought, this would be great if it fixed that issue. I upgraded and allowed it to reboot. I no longer have root.

What did I do wrong?

I ended up going through the root process again, went into recovery mode and remembered it no longer had the default recovery mode. went and restored my backup from earlier and root is back! easy fix.
