Support Group: Random Shut Downs

Have you tried either a factory reset or clearing the cache in recovery? I am not sure how to do either, but it is typically a good thing to do after system updates.

I don't feel like setting up the phone again. It works flawlessly except of the shutting down issue. For the moment I think I prefer waiting for an update that might fix it, at least until I get fed up of checking my phone frequently for whether it's still running or not.

As I said in my initial post, I started the thread to see if there are no other users in this forum with the same issue, and to let off some steam.

I'm sorry, I'm new to this forum. I didn't know that just discussing a problem isn't an option here. I really wasn't expecting that already the first poster assumes that all the LG G3 users that wrote 55 pages on the XDA thread I've linked are "doing something possibly bad without realising it".

I also didn't expect to be blamed for this problem, a problem that many people have, on a phone I didn't do anything expect installing some trusted apps. I haven't even installed Office because I didn't want to check "Unknown sources".

So I see, it was my bad to start this thread. I guess it should be closed then.

And by the way, your "options" are recommended for three weeks now: LG G3: 5 Common Problems Users Have, and How to Fix Them | Digital Trends

[Removed by Moderator] Here's the thing, XDA will provide far superior tech to this site. A/C is more casual, good for news, wallpapers, app reviews, etc. The editors intentionally do not provide review scores for devices. That's just how this place is.

I'm rocking an iPhone 5s right now so I can facetime my relatives...but it's going as soon as a snapdragon 808/810 phones come out. It's my BELIEF that the G3 just doesn't have the processing power it needs. Good luck either way!

Oh, and your statement about Windows Phone is spot on. My 521 murders any android phone with 512 mb of ram. But I think Android is getting there. We'll see.

It's possible that one of your apps is not compatible with the lg g3 yet and is causing problems. I would factory reset, see if you still have the problem, then add apps one at a time giving time in between to see if the problem reoccurs.

And I totally get not wanting tho go through the whole phone setup process again, but honestly, if it works then it's worth it!

And sometimes it's that the device is new and developers haven't fixed device issues within their apps yet.

Yeah, it just turned off again. I'll try a hardreset with the LG backup, and if that not works a hardreset with setting up everything from scratch.

And this now that I've gotten the Quick Circle cover, which I find incredibly awesome ;-)

Take it back. No reboots here. 32gig 3gb RAM 64gig Micro Sd. ATT here. Some people also suggest uninstalling your apps and reinstalling one app per day or 12hrs and see if it is a certain app.

Good news!

I used the LG desktop software to make a backup of my phone, but when I wanted to restore it after the hard-reset it told me it doesn't have a backup saved! So at least it will be a real hardreset with a new set-up.

I'm at the same glad that I was forced to it like this, and annoyed because it didn't work.

I have an old Nexus 7 2012 I gave to my son. It would shut itself off every now and then. I eventually found the culprit: Tasker. My bet is you have a wacky app.

Only that the XDA thread is now on page 59. I would think that all these people would have found the bad app, but... sorry, it's the frustration that tries to force me getting sarcastic.

At this point just send it back and get a new one.

As was suggested, and you did, do a hard reset. You should have backed your info to google. Your apps should still be in the app store. One click and you can download all of them.

Use the phone without any apps for now and see if you get any shutdown.

The problem with Android apps is that they are not tested on all phones. Developers do not have the resources to purchase all the top phones, so they test on a few phones and then release the apps. That is why you might get apps that work well on one phone but not another.

I hope you get this resolved.

No need to apologize! I know how you feel, remember?

It may not be easy to find it, but try what's been suggested.

For the week my wife had her G3 she encountered all the frequently reported faults and bugs that come with the G3 but never had an issue with shutdowns. But obviously that's an issue as well.

Wow, nice attitude you have there. Do you really expect people to want to help you when you post nasty little diatribes like that? This forum is here to help people, not be their punching bag.
