ok im sure this has been asked before but i couldn't find it when i did a search so here i am.

im coming over from a black berry storm to a droid incredible and i love my sure type keyboard i have on my storm. for those not familiar with it basically its a key board with 2 letters per button and instead of typing out the whole word you just hit the key with the letters on it and it auto types for you. heres a link to show you better then i explain it

YouTube - Suretype with touchscreen on BlackBerry Storm

is there a app that does this for the droid incredible cause i really like this feature and might be the only feature i am going to miss from my storm.

The better keyboard version does NOT act like the Blackberry suretype. It shows jumbled letters and lets the phone's auto spelling choose the word for you no matter what you actually meant it to be. I can't speak for smart keyboard. Better keyboard is only useful for skinning the keyboard.

Smart Keyboard is the same however its more accurate than Better Keyboard. And the Smart Keyboard creator updates his app DAILY so I'm sure he's perfecting it as I type this.

thanks every body. i think thats the only feature from my storm im going to miss, and my app pattern lock but other then that my storm is falling apart.

the Better Keyboard one is not near as accurate as the BB Storm Suretype. I specifically bought Better Keyboard because of Suretype but it predicts words that make no sense many times. The BB one was insanely accurate

damn you just killed it for me lol. well at least i didnt download any of those apps yet and get mad over it.

something will come out, just think how many storm owner's are making the leap to the incredible if they havnt already. i could type extremely fast with that keyboard and i hope something good comes out real soon

Yeah I always appreciated suretype on my Storm. I'm kind of disappointed with the accuracy of the keyboard on the various droids. But things will be updated and improved upon. I need to break bad habits anyways!

I'm looking for this, too. I don't know, I just think Suretype is a better way to type one-handed!

I never actually used "Pattern Lock" for BB, but from my understanding its the exact same thing as the "unlock pattern" that part of Android OS.

You can just goto settings -> security -> Set unlock pattern
No app needed

I use the HTC compact qwerty keyboard. I will ager that it isn't as accurate as the Storm Suretype keyboard, but it is a great alternative to the traditional keyboard of the Droid Incredible. I didn't think that I would like it but I do. I am really fast on it and very accurate.

I'm bumping this too. It's been a year since the thread was made, and there's still nothing comparable to BB's SureType. That stuff was the best, I could type as fast via SureType as I could on my keyboard. The full qwerty on Android sucks, however. Sucked on the Storm, sucks on Android.

If any devs out there run across this post and find a way to port SureType over to Android, omfg, you'll be rich. Somebody please, this keyboard is killing me xD

Not sure if you still need this, but I was in the same boat. Loved SureType, so I've tried most of the keyboard apps that provide a compact keyboard. The best one -- by leaps and bounds -- has been Ultra Keyboard. It is not exactly like the BB Storm keyboard, but it is very similar. And the prediction is pretty good too. Has problems with the words Storm users are accustomed to: are/see, put/out, ... and so on.

On my Motorola Atrix, I end up having to restart the app every week or so because it gets laggy. But it types so much better than Better Keyboard, Smart Keyboard, and all the others, so I'm willing to tolerate it. The author made an announcement that he is producing an update in a couple of weeks (hasn't been updated in almost a year) but I've found myself returning to it everytime I think another app with a compact layout might be better.

Give it a try and see if you agree. I know there is a trial so you don't have to pay to try it.
