My daughter's pay-as-you-go phone is dead.. so I decided I would give her my S3 and order the new S4. It should be arriving some time today.

The VZ rep told me that I could just swap SIM cards between the S3 and S4 so I could keep my number and have the S4. Question is... do I need to insert the new SIM in the S4 and activate first before swapping? Or can I put the new SIM in the S3 and activate from there?

Beyond putting the SIM card in you may need to go into the Verizonwireless.com site and make sure you update the phone and SIM info there. Other than that you should be fine.

Hello,

It depends, if the new phone that you are acquiring is unlocked. If it is, then you might not have any problems with just swapping the SIM card between both devices. In opposite if the new S4 is locked to other carrier, then it might not recognize that SIM card that you already owned.

Regards.
