Ok, so I've tried a few ROMS, and have been sticking with Virtuous. I have not had great experiences with some others and I think maybe it's my own fault. It has been said many times that when restoring apps, do not restore the data, but I believe I have been.

If you don't restore the data, how is it any different than using app brain to restore the apps? When you don't restore the data, will a game like angry birds start from the beginning having to beat all the levels again? Will I lose all my sms messages?

I know email is synced with each server so that is never a problem. Gmail will always sync back up as well as my exchange. So really I guess my question is what will I lose without restoring data?

I want to try redemtion ROM, and they highly recommend NOT restoring data. If I like the rom, I want to keep it with my data, not start from scratch.

I believe you can restore apps and data, but do NOT restore system apps. I just loaded the Skyraider rom and restore my downloaded apps and data with no problems at all. If you don't restore Angry Birds data, you will have to start over, yes.

I would not bother restore gmail because it syncs up, like you said.

The easiest thing i have found with this situation is download Titanium backup and go through the apps and make a backup of all of the apps that you use, that would have data such as : K-9 email, Color note, Message Storage (for txt) Contacts storage, that type of thing. Then when you load your new rom just re-download TB and restore data after you have the apps reinstalled. It works for me every time and i swap roms at least 1 time a week at a minimum!

Yes, I do this, but I keep reading not to restore data. The first response of not restoring system data......what is the difference?
