Swiftkey on sale

Swiftkey isn't that good. If you don't use the Swype-like feature, it's just a keyboard skin and very few of the next-word predictions seem helpful. If you do use the trace keyboard, it constantly gets common words incorrect, and you have to go back and type it out manually. The default HTC keyboard's Swype-like keyboard seems to work much more reliably. Is there some other reason people like Swiftkey so much?

Your experience is not equal to others.

Very true indeed. Since I've been using swiftkey for awhile I can type one word and finish the sentence without typing.. It all depends on how long you use it :).

I thought the same. Tried the free version for a week. Then went back to the stock HTC keyboard, I found myself missing SwiftKey. Me personally, I really enjoy the Space Flow feature.

After coming from a long line of Palm Treos and Pres. I'm used to having a physical keyboard. I would type most of the time not even looking at the keys. The touchscreen keyboard was the biggest concern for me moving to Android. The stock GS4 keyboard is pretty crappy and has no autocorrect. SwiftKey helps me out so much. Most words I type are indistinguishable but swiftkey fixes them very well with the right word. Sure it isn't perfect and I wish it learned the names of my contacts, but in less than 2 days it saved me over 5000 keystrokes. And punctuation is so much easier on swiftkey. So for me it works. And apparently it does for many others. It all boils down to what works for you, and if htc has a better stock keyboard for some users then so much the better for them. For what it's worth I don't use swype hardly at all. If I do its usually when I have it on my car mount.

My swiftkey stats after only one week! Saved me 37000 keystrokes. Wow.

My typing heat map. Yes I am terrible at touchscreen typing but swiftkey fixes the hell out of that.

A friend of mine went from a GS2 to a GS4 and uses swiftkey. He is ALOT more accurate than me. Lmao.

I'm on the One, came from the 4S. The stock htc sense keyboard BLOWS imo, unless I'm doing swipe typing. If I swipe, it's *awesome*. I downloaded the trial and have been playing with it for several minutes and I already think that it is worth the two dollars. My typing isn't perfect, but it's much much better. I will be pulling the trigger on this, which is HUGE. My goal was to not spend ANY money on apps, period. (I spent a ridiculous amount in iOS, and now here I am on Android. I have every intention of going back to iOS if and when apple gets it's head out of it's arse. So anyway, this will be the first and hopefully only money I spend on apps-- I'm feeling that good about it.

I tried swype, it pretty much sucked. No better than stock, imo.

One of the few things I dislike about the HTC One vs my old iPhone is that typing seems to be slightly more difficult. I realize muscle memory etc after all those years of Apple lend to this and it will take time to get used to the new keyboard, but has anyone gone from an iPhone to the HTC One and can vouch if this keyboard seems more similar to the iOS one?

Has anyone had problems installing the new version from the Amazon App Store?
I can download the apk but when it asks me to install, tapping the button does nothing.
Argh!
And SwiftKey says I have to ask Amazon for help.
Really?
I would get a refund from amazon. They are usually pretty good about stuff like that.

Turns out it's the entire Amazon app store, I uninstalled it, and it wouldn't reinstall.
So I bit the bullet and spent the $2 to get the Google Play version. I love Swift Key, and don't mind $2 going to them.

I didn't even bite the bullet. I just finally got around, after owning and HTC device since the G1, to fully customizing my phone. This was an amazing buy. I have my girlfriend leaving her iPhone for the an Android device. I got her a Google Play card, so she could get this right she gets her phone =D

I too spent a ridiculous amount on iOS apps. The way I justified it to myself was by remembering that Apple doesn't allow apps that improve or enhance their stock apps. Ex: you can't improve the keyboard with a third party app let alone replace it with a better keyboard. Lol
