Swipe to answer no longer working consistently after update

I've had my Samsung S9+ since it first came out. For the past month or so I have experienced what I have seen in many other posts. When you try to answer an incoming call from the lock screen by swiping the green phone icon, it doesn't actually answer the call. You are then unable to do anything on the phone app. I usually end up minimizing the phone app, then swipe from the top of the screen for the minimized "call" then click the red phone icon to "hang it up."From the callers point of view I simply haven't answered at all. My recent call list shows a missed call. What I have noticed is if you try to answer the call more carefully but swiping hard and fully across the screen, it will answer. If you try to answer the call quickly, without a lot of intention(only way I can describe it) then this issue occurs.

I have seen several suggestions to change the settings so that it answers with a tap instead. I work in software so I know a bug work-around when I see one. I do not want to answer with a tap. I would like for this issue to be resolved so I can go back to answering my calls like I had been before that update to the software. I am seeing that a Mod has asked follow-up questions of people who have posted similar issues over the past month or so, and in most cases the OP does not follow-up. I would be happy to assist in describing my experience with this issue if needed.

Are you using any spam filters or something in general that could steal focus from incoming call screen? Any 3rd party lockscreens?

My phone used to do this. After the update, I have to swipe to answer and hang up. I can't figure out how to get the tap feature back. How can I do that?
