Switch back and forth between two different Android phones on Verizon?

I love my Note 2, and plan to keep it as my primary phone, but I am also interested in getting a Galaxy S3 Active phone. I ride bicycles, kayak, run, etc., often in the mud and rain, and the active would be nice so I don't have to put my Note 2 in a ziplock every time.

Question: Can I pick up a Galaxy S3 Active from craigslist or eBay, and switch between the two phones just by moving the SIM card? It doesn't look like the S3 Active was ever sold by VZW, so I assume it would be an AT&T branded phone, and it will need to be unlocked to work on VZWs network? Would that work?

I doubt it. Verizon uses CDMA technology, AT&T uses GSM. Many of Verizon's phones include GSM radios for international use, but no AT&T phone will include a CDMA radio.

What about a VZW phone, like the Galaxy S3 Mini below.. Can I just move the SIM back and forth between my Note2 and this phone?

As long as the Sim cards for Verizon both fit in the phones yes I gave my mother my wife's s3 and she had a razrm and just swapped Sim cards
