Switched from iPhone

After 8 years, made the switch to android!

Just a few questions to help me get started:

How do I adjust my brightness without going deep into the settings?

How do I remove that row on top of my keyboard with the smiley face, gif icon, etc?

How do I take a screen shot?

Why can I "react" to some text messages and some if I click and hold on a text it won't let me?

My google chrome browser has no buttons like back or refresh or anything, why?

Brightness: slide down from the top and it will show your mini status bar, slide down again and brightness is the topslider

Keyboard row: not sure if you can, I'll let someone else answer that

Screenshot: 1-hold power and volume down - or - use goggle assist (say" hey google") and then "take a screenshot"

React: I don't think that's possible right now, but I've heard it's being tested

Browser: If you don't have the bottom row of navigation buttons, when in the browser, swipe down to reload. Swipe left to go back

Brightness - swipe down twice to pull down the notification shade then expand the quick access menu, brightness slider is at the top. Alternate - swipe down with 2 fingers.

Keyboard - That's your quick access to keyboard settings and other items such as emojis and your clipboard.

Screenshot - Hold power and volume down at the same time. Alternately, you should be able to swipe up and hold to get your recent apps list, screenshot at the bottom takes a screenshot of the most recent app.

Messaging - are the ones you can react to labeled as 'chat message' in the text entry box, and the ones you can't labeled as 'text message'? Texting natively doesn't support reactions, 'chat' messages are using the RCS protocol and would support those reactions.

Also you can go to settings and put quick tap into the search bar at the top. Enable quick tap and select screenshot. Then like the back tap feature on the iPhone of you tap where the G logo is on the back it will take a screenshot. I use this method the most for screenshots.

In the keyboard settings I think you can turn off the emoji suggestions and number row. You find it under settings and type in gboard into the search bar and then you can adjust your preferences.

With Gboard, I think you can't get rid of that row completely. You can tap the arrowhead at the very left of that row to collapse those options, but it will just show a blank row (although that row is used to prompt you if you tap the microphone icon on the right to dictate). You can get rid of the emojis suggestion row on top with an option in the settings, if that bothers you.

Screen capture can sometimes require a little getting used to. You have to press both Power and Vol Down at the very same time, and keep them held for about half a second.

Reacting to a text message requires you and the other person to have RCS Chat features turned on. Look in the Google Messages settings for an option to turn on Chat features.

Yes! In regards of the messaging part. A buddy of mine is a pixel user and it says chatting for him and I'm able to react to his messages. My wife has an iPhone and it says sms/mms for her and I'm not able to react to her messages

I recently found the rear double tap setting and assigned it to screenshots as well. I don't know why they wouldn't just have that as a default setting.

And, if not known. When the phone is sleeping. You can activate the camera by quickly double pressing the power button.

At least Google Messages recently added the ability to show iPhone user's reactions to texts you sent, rather than the annoying [Person] liked "[your message]" texts. If you don't see that, then look in the Google Messages settings for the Show iPhone Reactions as Emoji option (under Advanced).

I recently found the rear double tap setting and assigned it to screenshots as well. I don't know why they wouldn't just have that as a default setting.

Since the Quick Tap option can be set for different things, some folks use it for screenshots and others use it for Pause/Play music, or to open Assistant, or to open a specific app, etc.

I mean more why it's a disabled feature in general. Like the only reason I even knew it was a feature was because I'm a guy that digs into all the settings when I get a new phone just to see what all is there.
