Switched from iphone

My last iPhone was the 6s Plus and then Apple released the iPhone 7 I saw no innovation just higher purchase costs.

I turned to Samsung starting with the Samsung s7 edge and haven't looked back.

It was a learning curve learning to use the Samsung phone and to get used to the customisation on these phones but as for any eco-system that didn't affect me.

I may be trying the Note 10+ (I'm using an Xs Max at the moment). I'd like to be able to send decent quality/length videos to iPhone users. Is there a decent messaging app that both the iPhone user and I can use to accomplish this? I've used Hangouts in the past, but I hear that's going away.

I dont get timely text from IOs friends. That's after deactivating Facetime and Imessage. It happens at random times wether its on wifi or cellular.

It could be that your iphone using friend/s have their imessages setting to "send as SMS" toggled off. Meaning that SMS messages won't be sent from their end.

On the iphone: /settings/messages/imessage *activated /send as SMS (must be toggled on) If this setting is not toggled ON, then the iphone user's imessage will not be sent as an SMS message.

The problem most likely is NOT your messages app but rather the sender's imessage settings is the culprit. Galldang Apple! :-)

I remember you on Macrumors. I used to be on there under my username here. It's amazing how many people have been around on all the various sites.

I started with cellphones way back in 1993. as far as iPhones go, got the first one and only skipped the 5, 7 and X. I'm not even feeling excited about whatever new iPhone they announce this morning. I was excited waiting for my Note 10 to get here. It worked out to where BestBuy shipped the case I ordered through FedEx and so did Xfinity so both got delivered together.

I get excited each year for the Note as much as I used to get excited for the iPhone.

WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram. The easiest would probably be to just use Facebook Messenger though. Almost everybody has a FB account even if they don't currently use it. I keep FB disabled on my phone, but install Messenger for messaging my international friends.

My head's gonna be spinning tomorrow between here, iMore, my iMore chat, watching the event, and checking out Jon Prosser's live tweeting. Oh yeah, then there's that thing called work. LOL

LOL, I read something this morning on 9to5 mac that the new iPhone is losing a lot of features that people were looking forward too, like reverse wireless charging, and usb-c.

I knew usb-c wouldn't be coming this year. They'll save that for a redesign year. But I did hear whispers that reverse wireless charging wasn't coming. I was sworn to secrecy with that little tidbit, but I guess the cat's outta the bag now!

LOL, yeah some inside leaked it this morning. I just feel like last years iPhone and then this years arent really that much different than the orignial X. I will say that Apple does a good of keeping their software working the way it should, but as far as being a future innovator they have fallen behind. One thing I really like about my Note is that when I plug it in, it gives me a time est on how long till fully charged, may not sound like a lot, but I like it.

I had not planned on getting my Max. Was gonna be the first flagship iPhone since the 3G I didn't buy, but when I saw that big screen in person I had to have it. Now I'm saying that this year's model I'm definitely not buying. We'll see how that goes.

Phones are just getting too expensive to buy 3 or 4 a year like I used to. Even if I sell/trade-in it's just getting mind-blowing. What I'd really like to do is sell my Max, get the next gen iPad Pro with LTE, and stick with Android for my phone and keep an iPad with me for when I need iOS.

That's the route I've decided to take (sort of). It's rather liberating. I've always had the latest iPhone plus whatever Android device I choose to carry but since the Pixel 3xl came out, then the S10+ (traded in on the Note 10+), and now the Note 10+ I rarely used the iPhone XS Max. Sold it this past weekend and just using the Note 10+ and my iPad Pro 12.9 with the hotspot from my Note 10+. I'm not missing the iPhone at all but I would definitely miss the iPad.

I've never bothered with using my hotspot so I can't even remember how much data my plan has for it. I should look into that. If it's enough I could save that $150 on the LTE version.

Hi,

It's a small world.

:)

Watching Apple event....you know you're out of ideas when you introduce...so motion selfies. Just what we need, right?

Just watched the apple event and honestly there was not much I would switch from my note for. I find the note to be the fastest device I have ever known. Apple upgraded the processor and cameras and that's it with the same pricing. Anyone switching back to apple after seeing the latest event?

I'll keep on using my XS Max for another year or two ALON with my Note 10+.

There is no reason to buy this years phones. My XS Max is still working flawlessly. I bought it in October last year and the battery app still shows it's capacity as being 100%, not bad for someone who charges when it gets down to 5% and then up to 100%.

I knew the Note 10+ would be the only phone (besides my S10+) that I would be buying this year.

I'll keep using my series 4 watch as well, just bought it in April.
