I was a lonnnng time blackberry user, the GS2 is my first android phone, the droid dna will be my first HTC device as well as my first device with no expandable storage.
I know I will use cloud more often but I would just like to hear from others who were a little 'sketched' about not having expandable storage and adapted just fine.
(My DNA arrives on Monday)

I've never had a phone without expandable storage or not being able to r place the battery but ill say two things... 1) we could have all the storage in the world but if we lose our phone with the memory card in it we still should have a backup on a cloud storage or our pc's. Half the time we store music and videos in our phone and don't even listen to half of them once they get old but we don't delete them. So expandable storage is not a necessity to me at least and there are plenty of work arounds. 2)if we charge our lithium ion batteries min "cycles" like we're supposed to then they actually have a long life span. So not being able to remove your battery might not be a bad thing if we treat em right. However, we don't always want to let our phone's battery get too low if we know we won't be bear a charger for a while and charge em back up before they get too low so if we shorten the life of the battery by doing so then not being able to replace the battery may be an issue. I feel like if you can't remove your battery, that could become a problem later on down the line. Not being able to use you r phone like you want to because your battery dies so quick is sucky. Other than that, it's not too bad. The DNA looks like a cool phone. Good luck with it

Just FYI, it's more like ~11-12GB free space rather than 16GB, partly from VZW bloatware. As long as you're diligent about what you store on your phone, you shouldn't have any issues. Here's what I did:

-shrunk my music library down to only songs/albums/artists I actually listen to. e.g. if you have a 16-song album and you only care for 3-4 songs, you might as well not upload the others on your DNA. takes quite a while of sifting through, but it's worth it.
-got in the habit of deleting photos/videos I don't care for, every week or so. and deleting the ones I've already uploaded.
-used cloud storage for saving your custom icons, wallpapers, etc etc.
-deleted apps when you've lost interest in them or likely won't use them. same goes for videos, if you don't stream online.

if anything, it's your pictures and videos that will eat away at your memory--you'll take 20-30 shots at a time, and forget to delete the ones you don't want; all the videos you took but don't care about will slowly stack up; etc, etc. I really don't even have that many pics/videos on my phone, but it's already totaled to 1.5GB. My apps, I'm at 3.8GB (a lot of bloatware). Music is probably ~4GB. So I have 6GB free.

I like the input, another quick question I have; if I add the warranty protection and root the phone, will that void the warranty? I know it does for another carrier..

picture are where dropbox comes in handy, whenever i get in a WIFI hotspot it uploads the pics to the cloud, then i can delete them off the phone.i would love to have more storage, but seeing i am in a wifi environment most of the time, cloud services help a lot.

It probably will but I don't think they actually check to see if phones are rooted if you want a replacement. If you need a technical fix and they tell you to take it to a repair facility then they will probably know and you most likely will have voided your warranty. If you're worried about it, I would leave it stock and if you have Money to blow on a deductible for an insurance replacement then go for it.

So I got the DNA today, loving it! 2 quick questions I have are:
1. Do you need to cycle thr batttery and can you leave it on charger for extended periods of time?

2. Is there a stock task manager?

TIA!

There is no stock task manager but you really don't need one. The system does a great job of handling processes.

Yes there is. Press recent button on the right, swipe up to close apps. Also you can go into settings:battery, battery usage and kill the apps being used by pressing the "x" on the right.
