So my wife is switching from a 64gb galaxy s6 edge to a 32gb S7 edge. What's the best way to transfer all the data. She is filled to capacity on the 64gb phone. Is there a way to use the SD card when transferring data from the s6 to the S7?

No. I can't really believe anyone could fill up a 64gb phone. Anyhow, you can't transfer directly to the SD card unless you use a PC, then it would only be music, photos, etc. There's quite a bit of discussion on the board on this topic.

Tons of videos and mp3s can do it. I had 64gb and my commute was never boring because I had lots of content lol

You can use the usb otg adapter to connect the old device then copy over media using the my files app

Are you kidding? I currently have nearly 100 GB of music, photos and video on my microSD card. It's very easy to fill.

Will that copy files directly to the SD card? Regardless, you can't copy apps directly to the SD which is what i thought the OP was referring to. In part at least.

Quite easily done with HD videos and Hi-Res audio, mp3's, et al. You can never have too much space.

My 128gb card has about 9gb free.

I would copy all the pics, music and video to a computer, then to the sd card. For the apps and other things, you can use Samsung Sync to copy phone to phone.
