Hey there!

I'm running an unofficial build of LiquidSmooth 4.0 on my Nexus 5. I have it set up the way I want, and have a lot of data, like Candy Crush game progress, crossy road progress and so on, that I don't want to lose. Now, I want to install cm12 because I know cm will release bug fixes and new features regularly, and it now has theme engine. So, how do I switch without losing data? I know doing a dirty flash is basically shooting myself in the foot. And I don't have enough space on my phone for a backup. I have a USB stick and an OTG adapter, if that helps.

Did you find the solution? If not, you'll need a utility app, such as Titanium Backup, to save your apps (with data) to restore on the new ROM.

Let us know if you have further questions.

I did indeed find a solution. Use my trusty otg adapter and a thumb drive to take a nandroid backup with twrp, flash, wipe, reboot, install Nandroid Manager, use it to restore, log back into everything, et voilà!
