Hey everyone. I'm currently running Myn's Warm Z TwoPointTwo with the latest clockwork mod recovery. I think I want to try out CM7 and see how I like it. I've already backed up just in case. Is there any special procedure I need to follow when switching from custom Rom to custom Rom?

Just follow the the steps on the cyangen wiki. From the guide I recommend the second method (from recovery) .

Wipe data, cache, & dalvik. Flash CM7 then the Gapps and reboot.

If you have any games you want to save the data from then back those up with Titanium Backup. Make sure to save those apps and not everything on your phone. You'll run into problems if you do.

Yeah. Titanium backup will back your apps up. Download it from market, go menu, batch, the run backup apps + data.

When you go to restore using batch from menu, only do apps and app data. System restores cause issues.

Gotcha. I'll probably tackle this tonight. With titanium I can back up full apps right? It's a real pain having to download EVERYTHING all over again. Also, if I decide for what ever reason that I don't like it, I can restore my Myn backup without any issues?

It will let you back up all your apps. Its not a pain at all.

If you want to restore your backup just wipe everything and restore. No issue and you will have your apps + data from the point of the backup

Just make sure to do a nandroid backup.

Also, make sure to get the gapps for cm7.

All the instructions are on that link. Follow it and you will be good.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm up and running with CM7. Wow is it fast and silky. No hesitation anywhere and customization out the whazoo. I'm in the process of restoring my apps via Titanium right now. It's a little annoying to constantly have to hit "Install" and "Done" as it prompts me, but it sure beats having to redownload and search the market again. Thanks again!

Full version will install them with no clicking. I recommend it.

Once you get a little bolder, try flashing a kernel. Tiamat is a great one.

Ill be sure to buy it next time I switch roms then. What would be some consequences to installing a kernal? Would I have to get rid of the kernal before going back to stock if I ever decided to do so?

Edit: wow just found a blue led in the speaker bar I never knew of had lol

Hit thanks instead of quote lol.

Kernels come with the roms. Example: Cm7 has the CM7 kernel. As long as you go nonSBC kernels...should be okay.

To get rid of a new kernel you could nandroid back or just re-flash a rom.

I suggest playing around with CM7 and looking at kernels later if you want better battery life.

Yep its green. It looked blue in the light I was in the other night I guess.

JSnazzy - I thought I had hit the thanks button on one of the first post? Ill double check next time I'm at a computer.

Once again thanks for everyone's help. CM7 is still running strong!

No matter what ROM I flash, I end up coming back to a CM-based ROM because they are so fast, and have the best battery life... they are however, quite buggy
