Switching to or from wide angle camera during video recording?

Has anyone found or expect there to be a workaround for this? It is the only thing that makes me hesitant to upgrade the Mrs. to be from her G6. We use this feature all the time in my V20, my V30 and her G6.

Even if that means disallowing the telephoto camera during video recording, I would prefer that. Does anyone else prefer this configuration or am I the only one?

A good workaround is just begin the video in wide angle, then just simply zoom in.

It seems to be all about lighting. That or one of the monthly updates changed it. I was pretty sure I was able to switch while recording recently, so I just did a test with the kids outside playing in the snow. The camera toggle buttons were enabled, and it was definitely switching cameras. Holding phone in landscape mode with lenses on the left, in one zoom position it used the bottom / left lens, and in the other it was using the top / right lens. I'll have to watch the video to see which was which, because I can't remember right after recording.

Android does not support more than 2 cameras and LG chose (annoyingly) no not allow the wide angle to be used. Just zoom and main. Watch these two videos I just took right now.
