Switching to T-mobile

I have an old xt1080 that I am trying to switch to TMobile just to try theire coverage in my area. I put the new SIM card in and it says that the sim is from an unknown source. I ignored that message and tried the different APN settings I have found in various forums but when I go to the network operators screen it still only list verizon and at&t. Does anyone have any advice that has done this switch before thanks

Hmm, T-Mobile works on my phone. Try the fast APN? Did you switch the network to GSM/WCDMA/LTE?
