I wonder how much longer this will be in beta... I mean, they are/will be shipping on a few phones not too far in the future, right? Like the Galaxy S if I recall correctly. I would like to know if Swype will be available to buy sometime soon, or if it will only be marketed to handset manufacturers to pre-install on phones.

Swype for Incredible

Anyone know where you can get Swype for the Incredible since the official beta is currently closed?

Is the easiest way to download it to just go to the site from the phone itself and download? Or should I go with the whole SD card/Astro File Manager deal?

easiest way is to get a barcode scanner app in the market, then open then QR code attachment in my post and scan it. direct download.

I've been using swype for a week or so now and I have to say it's amazing, at first I did not like it but once i got the hang of it it's amazing

is it head and shoulders faster than using the standard keyboard? I have seen the claims and such, but want to know the truth! :-)

The Truth is that it works very well for some people. Others prefer a more normal approach. You might try it and see for yourself. In the end, you'll use what works for YOU.

I downloaded and installed it. I went into the settings and turned on swype. When I compose a message to test it out I don't see anything. It's just the normal keyboard. Any help?

on an input box, press and hold until you get a pop up. one of the choices on that pop up will be "input method" and from there you can select swype (or any other keyboard you've downloaded and installed)

It takes a while to get used to and you end up having to program words at first that it doesn't recognize, but once you get used to it it is blazing fast. I'm trying to train myself to tear through messages as quickly as possible on it. I've found myself writing paragraphs in text messages because it takes the same amount of time as tapping out a few sentences in regular text mode :p
