I am looking for an explanation....
so I used my S3 all day today and in the process of researching stuff for the battery issues I am facing, I noticed that under Settings> Sync & Notifications, the toggle at the top was greyed out and off. BUT I was getting my gmails all day, and my other google functions were syncing even though this was off. Also, I my work email is also under that section of settings, so that sync was turned off too, but I was still getting work emails as they came in (would hit my phone immediately after hitting my computer).
I was speaking with a rep. at the Verizon store and he said that the sync still works even with the toggle "off" if my phone is connected to a wi-fi network. Is that true?
He basically said that because the toggle was off and every single google function was checked (like if you turned the toggle to on, then clicked my gmail account, every box was checked under the sync options) that my phone was basically syncing all day long and thus that was affecting the battery.
I'm inclined to think that that's not really true and that it wouldn't lead to a battery drain. But I still can't figure out how I could still get all my gmails, etc when the auto sync toggle was off?
