Sync Contacts -- Facebook for HTC Sense

I just received a replacement T-Bolt yesterday and am having troubles trying to sync my contacts under the "Facebook for HTC Sense" option. I remember having this problem awhile back and fixed it but now I can't remember what I did.

Under the setting, Accounts and Sync, I added the "Facebook for HTC Sense" account and it will not sync the contacts, I keep receiving the error message, "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."

I spoke to Verizon and HTC and of course they were no help. I have read several forums and unfortunately I can not resolve the issue. I have tried clearing the data, removing the Facebook app, pulling the battery, unsyncing and resyncing, syncing all my contacts manually, removing the HTC Sense app from the app section of Facebook via PC, etc. When I installed the Facebook application, I selected, sync with my current contacts. What do I need to do to ensure that the "Facebook for HTC Sense" contacts correctly syncs with my phone?
 
I haven't been able to get it to work for months. I just gave up.

I noticed hasn't been syncing on my device either for a couple months or so. Though I haven't been trying to make it sync, I just ignore it too
(rooted btw)

From day 1 the Thunderbolt had syncing issues with facebook. I only wanted my contacts synced and it would put every contact in the Dial section. Not sure if it was ever fixed. I believe it is a sense glitch
