Sync issues with calendar

Can someone tell me why some things in my Google calendar sync to my phone and some don't? I'm running 5.0.1. Everything syncs fine on my tablet, but not on my phone. I have my account to sync and some things do.

Is there any pattern? Is it only events in a particular Google Calendar that don't sync? Or is it more random than that?

I don't see a pattern. There are 2 items that are repeat events that won't sync, while other events that repeat do sync. Same calendar.

How old are those items that don't sync? I know they're repeat events, but was their initial start date a long time ago (i.e., >1 year)? Maybe it doesn't sync because it's regarded as an old event.

That was the problem! They were well over a year old. I deleted them, then created new ones and they are syncing. Thanks.
