I was hoping there would be an easy, all-in-one sync solution for my music and my iPhoto albums, like using iTunes on my Mac with my iPhone and iPad. But so far I haven't found it.
I've found three solutions for syncing music: DoubleTwist (requires purchase of AirSync because it can't do it via USB), iSyncr (also a paid app, but apparently can use USB and Google Music Player, which is free and seems to work ok.
But none of the above deal with iPhoto albums. I thought DoubleTwist might, since it seems to be more-or-less an iTunes replacement. But it doesn't sync iPhone albums.
For just transferring photos from iPhoto to the Nexus 7, I can use the free OS X Android File Transfer app which opens automatically when your Nexus 7 is connected to your Mac via USB. For this, the following steps are required:
(1) From iPhoto, export an album to a folder on your Mac.
(2) Drag the exported folder into the Pictures folder on your Android via Android File Transfer.
This is not true "sync" though. And while quick, it is a pretty manual way of doing it. Plus you end up with duplicate files on your Mac. Also, the contents of the album transferred this way are not in the same order as the photos in the iPhoto album and the dates become the date of the export. Also Android File Transfer disappears from the dock a lot - when the Nexus goes to sleep, I think.
Is there a better solution for iPhoto album syncing with the Android? So far everything seems to be pretty patchwork.
Thanks,
doug
