Sync of iPhoto albums on the Mac to Nexus 7 - what are the best ways?

I was hoping there would be an easy, all-in-one sync solution for my music and my iPhoto albums, like using iTunes on my Mac with my iPhone and iPad. But so far I haven't found it.

I've found three solutions for syncing music: DoubleTwist (requires purchase of AirSync because it can't do it via USB), iSyncr (also a paid app, but apparently can use USB and Google Music Player, which is free and seems to work ok.

But none of the above deal with iPhoto albums. I thought DoubleTwist might, since it seems to be more-or-less an iTunes replacement. But it doesn't sync iPhone albums.

For just transferring photos from iPhoto to the Nexus 7, I can use the free OS X Android File Transfer app which opens automatically when your Nexus 7 is connected to your Mac via USB. For this, the following steps are required:

(1) From iPhoto, export an album to a folder on your Mac.

(2) Drag the exported folder into the Pictures folder on your Android via Android File Transfer.

This is not true "sync" though. And while quick, it is a pretty manual way of doing it. Plus you end up with duplicate files on your Mac. Also, the contents of the album transferred this way are not in the same order as the photos in the iPhoto album and the dates become the date of the export. Also Android File Transfer disappears from the dock a lot - when the Nexus goes to sleep, I think.

Is there a better solution for iPhoto album syncing with the Android? So far everything seems to be pretty patchwork.

Thanks,

Pretty sure G+ syncs photos across all your devices.

That doesn't help him syncing his photos and music from his apple eco-system. He wants to be able to transfer his things over to his nexus 7.

can you not download the Album from icloud and upload it to Google+ from web(on you PC/mac)??

Not as far as I know.

Also, what you are saying (if possible) sounds like duplicating the photos which are already on my Mac.

I'm curious why you mention Google+. How would that help me? If I wanted to just put my albums in the cloud somewhere I could export them from iPhoto to a Dropbox folder. Still, that's not "syncing." It's a manual update each time an album is updated. Also, that too would require duplicating photos on my Mac.

The problem is there is no elegant solution for iPhoto and Android.

There are 3rd party programs that do offer those features but everything I read about them was that the experience was lacking or not as great as it was made out to be.

Also the other and big problem is, you want to sync from iPhoto to your Nexus 7, the solutions like the one I use, only works the other way around.

Remember the reason why you need to export an Album from iPhoto in the first place is because Apple encloses all the photos in a specialize folder

Well, say I stopped using iPhoto, and I used Picasa instead, a Google product. Is there an easy way to sync the images with my Mac and Picasa in the cloud so that my Nexus can sync with them and have the same albums? Is that a possible solution?

Picasa wouldn't duplicate files on my Mac.

Doug, I'm interested in what you found. I love the nexus 7 AND I love my iPhoto pictures. I am thinking of getting an iPad just for the photo sync. Have you found anything that works like that with a mac and an android?

John, I haven't really spent a lot of time looking, but no, that's the one thing I haven't found yet. I love the Nexus 7 too. But I haven't found an easy way to sync selected albums with it, like I can with iTunes and iPhoto.

I suspect the solution lies in giving up iPhoto and switching to something more cross-compatible. But I have decades of photos relatively organized in iPhoto...
