syncing android & iPhone calendars

Is there an easy way/app to sync an android phone (my Galaxy S5) and my wifes iPhone 5S. I tried to search it but what I found was a little above my head... as far as changing things to certain types of files and then moving them around.

If you use Google calendars, you can share with the other. If only one uses Google Calendar, then I dont know, but there must be an easy way to sync

I feel like if you get sunrise (calendar app) you can sync the I cloud account with it
