Syncing apps

Anyone know of any good apps that will control what apps will sync at any given time?

To put it simply I want to save battery when out so would like an app that can I turn off all sync apart from say, email. So, all the other unnecessary things that sync when you're out and don't need them to will be left alone until needed again.

I'm not sure if Tasker can do sync switching on a per-app basis. It sounds like something it COULD do, though.
