Syncing contacts from gmail to phone

[Android Central Question]

I select a contact, then select edit, then delete information (i.e. phone number, address, etc.), the information still appears on the contact's main screen. Even if I go into my Google contacts and delete the information there, it still appears on the contact's main screen on my phone. How do I get rid of old information?

Where is the information for that contact coming from? You might have the same contact saved to both your Google account and directly in your phone or SIM, and editing one won't change the other unless the contacts are linked.
