Syncing gmail without syncing gallery pictures

I just got my nexus 4 this week and can't figure out how to sync specific apps without syncing everything else. I knew how to do it on the galaxy nexus. Is it not possible to do it in jelly bean? I don't want picasa pics on my phone.

Under Settings > Accounts > Google > Select your account and uncheck Google Photos.

It won't let you check the individual items to sync. I was able to before I got this phone. Now it says google sync is off. If I enable sync then it syncs everything. There doesn't seem to be a way to deselect items to sync.

Not sure what you mean, it shows the options just fine here

Mine looks exactly like that as well, letting me toggle photo syncing on/off. OP...maybe try getting a fresh reboot, then go into the sync options again.

I attached a copy of the screens that I see. I don't have the check boxes next to my options like you do. I'm running 4.2.1 on the N4. I don't know if there is an update I'm missing or why I can't see what you see on yours.

Well you've turned off sync. You need to turn it on before you can choose exactly what to sync or what not to, LDO. Under Settings > Data Usage > Tap the action bar and make sure auto-sync is checked
