Syncing Issues: Has Anyone Tried a Factory Reset?

I've been having constant syncing issue with my Rezi over and over and over and it just keeps asking me to sync the same contacts with Facebook again and again... Nevermind that Twitter contacts won't sync at all anymore... Then on top of that everytime I reboot the phone it downloads a software update but never installs it. What is that about?

I called Verizon and they want me to do some troubleshooting which I've already tried with them and then she said the next thing is a factory reset.

I DO NOT WANT TO DO A FACTORY RESET. I tried to lie and say I did one already but that didn't work 'cuz I guess they can tell LOL but oh well...

My question is... Has anyone ever tried a factory reset and did it actually help?? I would rather just have my phone replaced. I got this one from Amazon the same week it was released and I'm thinking I probably have a "bad" device. What do y'all think??

They can't tell if you did a factory reset. Since the phone activates via the SIM, there's no way they could even go off of that. Factory resets can fix software issues but some of the ones you're having are working the way they're supposed to. Sense tried to constantly sync my facebook contacts even after I told it not to and to never bother me about it again.

The update you're getting might even help. However you can grab it from scottsroms.com and flash it in HBOOT if you don't mind it basically factory resetting your phone(it will wipe phone memory not internal or external SD).

You probably do not have a bad device, it is more than likely the software, but if you want to exchange for a new one... you're on your own there. Sorry.

That false update is not helping. I already have the latest software version. The rep said that she doesn't see that I reset the phone because the PRL didn't change or something like that. I don't know what she's basing that off. But I seriously doubt a factory reset will fix the sync issue.
I think I just need a fresh new Rezound...

I just currently did a factory reset...

My issues were that the phone constantly changed my ringtones and notifications that I had preset.... It got so bad, that the phone stopped allowing me to even change them...

Thus... a factory reset...

I have done this before with other phones... and although you will need a few hours to get your phone set up to the way it looked before the reset, it can correct issues and be totally worth your time...

Just be sure to back up your contacts to your SD card... Then go to Verizon contacts and delete them all from the website... This makes it easy to re-install them and back up assistant won't screw you up.... Then be sure to sync with appbrain... Once you check the site online and are happy that all your apps are there, you are good to go and reset...

Appbrain will allow a mass re-install of all your app's, but it does take a while... just be sure to read the FAQ there.. It will tell you how to do the re-install... I just set up a phone called "new phone"... copied all my apps to the "new phone" category and then deleted the Rezound once I was positive that all the app's made it to the new category... Then after the reset, I just downloaded appbrain.... logged in with the phone, which then appeared on the website and then transfered everything from "new phone" back to the Rezound category and boom... they appeared on my phone for download...

My gmail contacts wont sync and they said the same, do a factory reset which to them is a cure all and a joke. I'm sure with mine its a setting option or something simple.

It's a no-brainer ... factory reset.

Heck, knowing HTC, I fully expect to have to factory reset after the upcoming OTA. It's part of life with smartphones.

You can go into the settings and applications, clear the cache for the people as well as facebook. This will bring the contact pictures back from GMail as well as reset all the Facebook pictures too. A factory reset does the same thing but this way you don't have to reset it.

Hey thanks for that little tip. I messed something up awhile back and that fixed it for me....much appreciated medic673
