I'm not sure what I did but I think I accidentally deleted a few system apps and now I can't get them to work. Don't ask how I'm working nights and was playing with my phone and before I know it I had it totally f@@ked up. I'm very new to Android and damn it is so different from Apple. Anyway, the app I'm trying to get running again is system phone app. I can go to Application manager and find it but I can't get it to do anything from there. The Force stop is highlighted but the show notifications check box is greyed out. I can't find the icon or the application anywhere else on the phone to open it, or to re-install it etc....I'm at a loss. If someone has idea please give me a hand.

Welcome to Android Central! The only way you could possibly delete a system app is if you rooted your phone (which is like jailbreaking an iPhone). Is it rooted? If not, then open your App Drawer (where you can see the whole grid of app icons), and make sure it's set to display all apps, and that no apps are hidden. Are you saying "Phone" isn't there? Or maybe "Dialer"? I don't have an S4, so I'm not sure if the phone app might be called something else.

Just so you know, the Phone app on my Razr Maxx also has the Notifications checkbox greyed out, so that's normal. It wouldn't make sense to prevent the Phone app from notifying you, since that's the original purpose of a phone!

Also, my suspicion is that when you thought you deleted the app, you probably only removed the shortcut on the homescreen. Removing an icon from a homescreen is the same as removing a shortcut from a Windows desktop--you're not deleting the program.

Try shutting off phone. I noticed after I updated and deleted wrong version of AT&T Messages (1.0.0...)app from Google Play Store I found the app you mentioned disabled and not functioning. Called AT&T tech was sent a different link to Google Play Store for a newer vers of AT&T Messages 2. vers. and after deleting old app and install of new vers. the phone app started to work and my ringtones option also came back. Check vers. if your using AT&T devices. Log into your AT&T account and AT&T is posting links for valid android apps. Be sure Google Play Store is not auto updating your apps on your devices this is per AT&T tech services. Read article www.redmond.com search: Google Play Store.
