System slowness/lag

So I've had this phone since launch and it seems my phone has just gotten slower and slower. Somtimes to the point where I just launch an app, put the phone down do something else and it'll eventually load. Anyone else have this problem? I've tried to figure out a fix, but nothing seems to work. I'll reboot, it'll be good for a little while then it's right back to painfully slow.

Backup all files, texts, pics, etc. on your device and do a Factory Reset. Readd your apps one by one and see if one app is the culprit or just the amount of apps you have. If the latter, you might consider rooting your device to speed it up.

How many apps do you have on your device? Are you a heavy power user? If so, your problem is probably an overload of apps.

you can do a couple things to speed it up without wiping the phone.
1) disable apps that are not wanted
2) wipe the cache partition - helps a lot
3) make sure you close running apps every once in a while, drag them to the left in the open apps window

Two things that helped me.
1) wipe your phone cache
2) I use "Clean Master" and clean my apps cache periodically with it. I also use the auto kill setting which seems to clear a lot of ram.

I know task managers are a very touchy subject with the android community but I swear it has eliminated most of the lag I was experiencing.

Before installing "Clean Master" I did clear the phone cache and it did help a little but still had a big lag. Showed especially with Google search and Google Now but after I installed the app and activated the auto kill the phone is fast again.

I HIGHLY recommend rebooting the phone every 2 days. The great part about this phone is, well, it never freezes, so it can be powered on for weeks, even months! Apps exist to do this automatically in the market. I've tried most of the free ones and they don't work. Just make it a habit. I only have to charge my phone every other day, and out of habit I reboot it when its fully charged.

If you are rooted I would use App Quarantine and freeze the system apps you dont use. A list of safe to freeze apps are available, just search.

Lag is the reason I sold my MAXX. I just couldn't deal with it. The hardware is capable, and the software looks fine. It's just that stupid Motorola Lower Saving Script that hoses the while thing up.

Hopefully the new Motos will bet better.

I have heard a few complaints about lag with the MAXX Hd. It seems to be a split opinion on this phone.

Very occasionally, when I exit an app the screen will not repaint for maybe 1/2 second. Noticable and probably annoying to some users. It doens't bother me in the least. Most gestures respond instantly.

Whatever happened to OP's phone is nothing I ever experienced, and I have lots of apps. Perhaps one specific app is behaving badly on his phone? But neither my nor my wife's MAXX HD ever lags enough to bother either of us.

For me it becomes almost unusable for several seconds. I end up tossing it aside and letting it do it's thing, then go back to it.
