System Sounds Muted

I have just upgraded my Note 3 to KitKat and all seems to be ok except I have lost the system sounds.

I go to settings> Device> Sound> Volume and the system sound volume is set to mute or at the left hand end of the volume bar with no way to increase it.

Any ideas please?

Try wiping the cache partition. You won't lose any personal data or settings.

Do you have any 3rd party apps installed that have any control over the system sound?

No nothing to control system sound

Just worked it out, When open mic is on and active you do not get system sound.
