System update 4

I just started to download System update 4 Android pie 9.0 right now.

My daughter just got the update too. It's definitely been released into the wild....

Pie for dessert tonight...installed with no issues. One positive (beyond the obvious), Smart Lock is back to working properly.

Nice! I have to wait until the kiddos are off to school (or it'll mess up my string of "milestone" alarms for the morning).

Any quirks with it that I should know before I hit the "install" button?

Not really a quirk but the volume buttons now control Media volume, not ring volume. There is also a button where you can set the phone to mute or vibrate when you hit a volume button.

There is also now a button to take a screen shot in the Power menu (hold down the power button).

I'm guessing it's taking so long due to the size of the update. I'm glad I have my battery mod on as I'll be checking it out for the rest of the afternoon.....once it finally installs.

All three Z3's in my house pulled it down shortly after it was released. And from all the forum posts around, you seem the only one that isn't seeing it, so I am hesisitant to think it's a "staggered" rollout.

Can you confirm that you've got a Z3 and not the Z3-Play ?

After downloading and playing around with this update I’m pleasantly surprised to see that it doesn’t seem to have the issues some others are complaining about on other phones.

So far, just flawless!

After coming from the Z force and Z2 play, I'm quite pleased to say that the fingerprint sensor now wakes the phone up. still not sure why they didn't just make it a button too like the Kyocera Duraforce Pro though (reads fingerprint AS you're pressing the power button). Now if they enable, or if I can find the setting to have the fingerprint put the phone to sleep like the original Z's did, that would be amazing.

I personally feel the 9.0 is the most positive advancement in recent times offering significant improvement in both usability and in background processes. This is what Android should be and bodes well for the future.
