While reading the changes during the update (weird to see a huge write-up about them on the update in progress page) I'm most excited about not having to have a separate app that lets me know when I leave my phone behind while wearing my Pixel Watch 2. One less app to have on my phone and watch!

Edit: Well, scratch that idea. Guess my "old" PW2 doesn't get that feature. Oh well.

I tested it and it didn't work between my P8P and PW2. But I don't see a setting for it so I don't know if it's just baked in or supposed to be an option.

I don't see the setting for it either. I also am using a P8P and a PW2. My watch is still on the Dec 5 2025 release. I believe we need the March 2026 update before it will work.
I've been trying to get my watch to update, no luck yet.

I checked for the update for my PW2 and got the March update (mine was also on Dec 5) but I still don't see any settings relating to the watch being away from the phone. I'll test it out at work again tomorrow morning.

Aaaand my watch away from my phone notification feature doesn't work with latest PW2 update. Oh well, at least I have an app for that that works pretty well.

Edit:

As soon as I posted this after walking about 150 feet away from my phone and returning without any notification, I got this.




Turned it on and tested it, but it didn't lock my phone or notify me I was away from it. Hmmmm, more testing is needed.

I had to continuously tap on the watch icon on the update page of my watch to get it to finally update.
