Will the Moto X Pure skip Android 6.0.1 and go straight to Nougat? What's taking so long for 6.0.1?

Just got a Nexus 6p 128gb for $478 on Amazon for Prime Day. The 64gb is selling for $403. I may move from my MXPE when it comes. Timely updates are important to me. I got spoiled with my 2013 Nexus 7 (which I sold in December of 2015), my Nexus 6, which I had from December 2015 - March 2016 (swapped it for the MXPE), and my Nexus 9 (which I currently own).

Nothing has ever been promised but the reputation of the X line heretofore has been one of very fast updates for a reasonable amount of time. But, now that Lenovo is in charge, the updates seem to have stopped. Even AC has commented about how the upcoming security patch is months-old (read: outdated).
