Systemupdate notification how to disable it?

Hi, I have a question about Systemupdate notification that allways come up as notification and some time as popup screen, it reminds me to update to 9.0 pie. I can cancel it (hide it) for 2 hours.

Is there anyway to disable it ?
The reason I dont want to update to Pie.
my friend updated to Pie, I dont like the look of it.
So want to stick on android 8.0 instead

There used to be. It may not work now; the app is not always available (I don't think Samsung like it much) and while this worked and works on Android 7 it might not work on Android 8 - best to check/read details.

You need to install "Package Disabler Pro (Samsung)" and then block the module called "Software Updates".

That will remove the ability of the phone to check for updates.

It has already detected the update but this should put a stop to the "nagging". If it does not, it will probably be necessary to completely reset the phone and then install that app and activate it before the Software Update module runs and detects the update.

Thank you Mark for replying to my question, I installed the app got two software update. Disabled the one under the blue one. Hope its the right one. Will see it about 1 hours or so.

One other question. Do I need keep this app if this works ?

If I remember rightly - when the phone knows there's an update a little icon appears at the top left. Disabling "Software Update" should see that disappear, too. You can see immediately that it has worked.

Looking at my phone: your versions are later than the ones I have, but I have both disabled. It is necessary to be careful with this app and be sure what you are disabling but I would expect it safe to try clicking on both to disable. You can always re-enable. And yes, you will need to keep the software, and reinstall it should you ever reset your phone.

So we also now know this definitely works on Oreo.

Looking at the myriad threads about the disasters with the Pie version this might well be helpful for others.
