T-Mo May Update...

Actually not going well.

I am into the update for an hour now. After indicating a successful update after about 20 minutes, it threw a Samsung error indicating unauthorized access to the Android OS.

Given the current trajectory, it'll take a couple hours for this update to fully conclude.

I just did the updates without any problems. I know that isn't really helpful to you but I wanted to let you know that it's not necessarily the update they is the problem...

I just did the update and so far I'm good. Didn't take very long, maybe 5 minutes.

Yeah - not suspecting the update as much as my phone. I've got other software issues with it.

I tried restarting a couple of times, only to reset the process back to the start.

It's been cranking on the update for 8 hours now - about 3/4 of the way through at this point. I was going to do YAFR (yet another factory reset), but I don't have the time to set my phone back up.

Interesting journey. Could be related to long-standing software issues with this phone.

Can you take it to the TMobile store? Or try using sidesync?

I did the update a few days ago and it installed perfectly. You may want to try using Smart Switch on your computer to do an emergency recovery if the phone will not boot up.

Yup - the update is good for everyone, except me.
It's still installing - and actually progressing. It's been on "Finishing Android Update" for over 24 hours.
I really want to see what happens when it finally completes. I have no doubt that this issue is related to the other software issues I've been experiencing with this phone.

When complete, I'll probably do another full factory reset and see what I get.
If any of these issues persist, I'll probably do a exchange at T-Mo.

Had a moment this evening, and I turned off BT and re-booted, which is the "fix" for the issues I've had with the N8 (see this).

Boom - the May update finished in seconds.

That fundamental issue with my N8 affects a lot of phone functions. Still no fix for that.
