T-Mobile: Duplicate/Missing texts

So, does anyone else have this issue?

I'm suddenly getting duplicate texts and sometimes missing ones (I've seen my friends' screenshots of a few messages that never reached me). It's the latter that makes me think it's T-Mo's fault and not the phone, but I called them and they swear their systems are clean (which I don't buy).

I've tried Hangouts, the stock messaging app, and even Textra. It's random, but it's still happens.

Anyone?

BTW, this happened to me (the duplicate messages) once upon a time on the Note 4, but that was Hangouts being buggy (which still is...VERY). A cache clear and it was good again. Not this time though.

Stop breaking stuff Spook!!!

Just kidding :D. Have you tried getting a new SIM (since you ruled it out being an app issue)? Anyone else you know on T-Mobile getting this issue?

I don't break it... it breaks itself haha
And nope, the people I know in T-Mobile are not getting this issue. I might try a new SIM, as long as they don't charge me for it hehe

I've been getting duplicate texts on my nexus 6 on TMO for about a week. I don't know if I've missed any texts. Hopefully not.

OK, so it might be a network issue... All of my missed messages come from iPhones, so you might want to check that if you have iFriends that you feel are starting weird conversations or are not responding to something they usually do.

Thanks for the tip. My daughter has an iPhone but no missed texts so far. We do use BBM a lot though.

I'm assuming your daughter is also on T-Mobile... in my case my missed texts are from non-TMo iPhones, and the duplicates are all over the place, just not with the TMo ones. Just got word from a friend that he has also received duplicate texts from me a few times this week (he's on Verizon, Nexus something)

She is. At first I thought the double texts were a Verizon issue because I was getting them from one of my brothers on Verizon. But then I started getting them from TMO folks too.

Disable the Lookout app and that will clear this up

It has to do with the app 'scanning' text messages and once it sees they are safe it almost resubmits the text.

:O
Might that be the case? I did install the Lookout app on the G4 just because. Can't hurt to try! Thanks!

mine came with the app installed but I immediately disabled it because it caused this problem on my wifes note

AT&T version won't let me disable Lookout. Ugh. Is root available yet? Tired of this already, lol.
"Application will be replaced with the factory version"

Edit: Oh, nevermind, I guess that still disables it. Strange wording.

Yeah, mine came with the Note 4 too...that's why I installed it on the G4, because of the theft alerts. I'll try disabling it, and if that's causing it, shame on you Lookout! If it is, I'll try enabling it back and just disabling the Security monitoring option (I really just want the theft alerts :P)

That's what disabling does. It doesn't uninstall it from your phone because it's flagged as part of the system (unless you download it). But it lays dormant, doing nothing. The app is still there though.
