T-mobile now allows trade-in after 6 months so you can get a new phone

I just got an s4 and I don't see upgrading every six months. I leave that to people wanting the latest and greatest. I'm happy with my s4 and I'll use it until it crokes or gets smashed.

I think it is the best thing they came up with .......I will upgrade to the latest phone that comes out...of course if it meets my needs ..........

yes but it costs $10.00 a month to be on the Jump Program.... nice thing is being able to turn in your financed phone early for a new one without having to pay off the balance of it. But at $10.00 a month, they are already up on you by $60.00 by the time 6 months has passed. and if you sign up say a month before a new phone is coming out I believe you have to wait 6 months before you qualify on the jump program for the upgrade.

Doesn't insurance on premium phones cost $12 a month? If so, you are actually saving $2 a month. Additionally, Android users get Lookout Premium subscription included in the $10. Lookout + Insurance + Upgrades every 6 months. Not bad really.

But a lot of people have insurance.. And this is insurance plus being able to upgrade. So it isn't to bad.

I'm not enrolled mainly because I bought this device full price... Not sure what I'll do when I upgrade next.

I didn't realize this cost $10 a month.

That tempers the enthusiasm. Lookout is only $30 annually. I never take insurance. I guess stuff happens, but insurance seems rather pricey it seems to me compared to other more traditional insurance issues, and considering the odds. I once did the calculation, but run the numbers compared to, say, homeowners' insurance. The amount insured for phones is rather small. The cost of the insurance is rather high. They depreciate quickly. Over the years of never taking insurance, I've saved far more.

yeah Insurance is included in the Jump plan thats $10 a month.

It seems like a good deal to me. As long as you stay with T-mobile you will never have to pay for the phone full price and you can upgrade every six months as long as you stay with tmobile and keep the cycle going.

I talked them today and they said insurance could be waived.

In which case, it is again not a bad deal. Every 6 months--can't imagine doing it that regularly, though. There is still some considerable cost in both finances and time in switching phones for no real reason so often. It takes time to set up a new one. And in costs--apart from paying in perpetuity for a phone and never owning one (I do like to keep some older ones for backups sometimes), there are new cases, new extra batteries, travel chargers, etc.

But it's nice to have the option when you need it. I was stuck on an outmoded HTC for an extra 6 months when it really was annoying me. ;)
