If I currently have a samsung gear s activated on t-mobile's wearable plan, can I just take out the sim card and put it in the lg urbane watch and have it fully functional?

Nope. Your SIM will likely be disabled as soon as you file up the Urbane 2. You will have to call T-mo to put your Urbane 2's IMEI number into the account before hand and hope whoever picks up your call knows what he is doing (most don't).

FYI, T-mo's wearable plans locks to the known wearable IMEI numbers. That means only T-mo branded Gear S and Gear S2 are supported. Other devices will be considered as phone and locked right away by T-Mo network unless you have the specific device's IMEI number put into the system.

Like foxbat says, be careful when just switching wearable sim cards. You can definitely get tmo's wearable plan to work on the ATT watch but I would go to the store and physically show them your LG watch. Ask them if they can just switch over the plan so you don't have to get an ATT or other plan. If I were in your shoes, I would just ask for a new sim card altogether.

I could not get my watch to use a wearable plan.
They tried entering the IMEI in the system and setting it up.
I was in the store and they called support.
They tried but were not able to get it set up.

T-Mobile $3.00 a month plan works fine.
I only plan to use the cell functionality in an emergency so it works fine for that.

IIRC, currently there is no possibility of streaming music on AW even if you have data.

On Samsung Gear S, the only streaming music service, IIRC, is Milk Music and Samsung is shutting it down soon.

Yeah I heard they are looking at tidal. But proof of concept is still there so the hope is still alive! Lol.

The problem is not technical, e.g. it is a very trivia effort to make a watch app for it. The real issue is the content. Music is not free. So, anyone offer music streaming have to have the ways to pay for it and secure it.

Obviously, the reason Samsung has to shut the Milk Music down is probably it can't sustain the financial loss. I'd say, if Google itself doesn't offer it, there is no one else will offer it. Google is the only one who has the money to burn:)

Can you elaborate on the 3.00 plan from t-mobile. I want to buy the watch from ATT and get it unlocked (is that the best move?) I own the gear s and gear s2. I also have 7 phones. please advise.

The watch is unlocked. Based on their site the $3 pay as you go plan includes a combined 30 texts/minutes a month with no data. You can add a "data pass" for $5 a day for 500MB or $10 week for 1GB. Seems like an emergency plan only. If you plan on pairing to your phone through cell data and using the watch as intended, it might not be the best deal.

I use it as an emergency plan.
I always have my phone.

Call t-mobile. Ask for a tech or engineer. Tell them you want to get your AT&T gear s2 to work on their network. They register your imei as gear s2.. And it works. People have to stop being vague here with the whole "have them register your imei." straight up. Gear s2, it's the only wearable "allowed" on tmobile network.

Going to the store has just as much of a chance of not getting it to work as calling them. But at least when you call them you can instruct them vs the ***** at the counter.

Please! After a year of use on the Tmo wearables plan, my ATT Gear S never worked on that plan again after I inserted the SIM ONCE in my LG watch. I had the SIM reprovisioned by engineers counless times with zero luck, got a new SIM, had them deactivate and reactivate both SIMs... . As soon as I'd turn on 3G on the Gear S it would get blocked again.

I gave up after a few months.

... Gear s2. Improvise IMEI, not SIM. Please. Read. I have a fully working lg urbane 2 LTE, and the store did not make it work. I made it work so if you care to, just ask for a smarter tech.
