T-Mobile store

Probably because TMO would rather you pay for their Digits service that allows dual numbers on a single device. As far as carrier apps, one of the nice things about TMO is they don't put many on their phones, and you can delete them like any other app.

I think I actually have that included with my One plan but I've never needed to use it nor have I set it up.

I read that the T-Mobile version is carrier locked so you would need to buy it directly from Oneplus to use on Verizon.
I believe the T-Mobile unlock policy is that the device will remain locked while financed and will be unlocked once paid off and has been used on the TMO network for 40 days. So you can't even buy it cash and directly take it to Metro, and T-Mobile owns them.

TMobile prepaid customers like me are not offered finance options.

You have to pay in full from OnePlus or use PayPal credit or a card to finance it and use on other carriers.

One SIM slot would kill it for me

Yep... I was prepared to buy one on launch day with T-Mobile until I found out about this limitation.

I've also been considering an iPhone XR - not because it's an iPhone, but because it'll work with two SIM cards - one physical and one eSIM - but T-Mobile isn't prepared to activate eSIMs yet.

Sound just like me. I would hate to get an iPhone, but if I could use it for Verizon and T-mobile simultaneously I'm all for it. Will just be a work phone. The trade-in deals at t-mobile are too good to pass up...

Why not get an unlocked iPhone XS and just swap sims back and forth between tmobile and vzw? It won't make you stay or force you to reset willit?

Seeing that my main carrier is Verizon all my phones are unlocked. The note 9 is my daily driver which I love. I would just like the flexibility of having my work and personal number on the same phone when I only want to carry one phone. T-mobile digits use to work great for that but it's been a hit or miss lately.

OK then why not forward the calls from one phone to the other. That way you would get all calls on one phone right?

Will the TMobile phones still have to go through TMobile for updates or will they update them as OnePlus always has pushed out updates?

I have the same question and have not been able to find an answer to this.

I think their ama on Reddit is today I will try to ask them there

I'd assume updates would have to be approved through T-Mobile, which would probably result in a small delay in rollout vs the unlocked model directly from OnePlus.

I went with the iPhone. I don't hate it, but it's going to take some time to get used to the swipe gestures, since my last iPhone had a home button.

I have a Note 9 as my personal phone, and I'm planning to use the iPhone for work (with a US eSIM while I'm working here, and a secondary prepaid Canadian SIM for when I'm working there).

Bonus: only iPhones are eligible for my employer's BYOD program, so I can now register my device for corporate email, calendar and Skype.

That's the one thing I'm afraid of. If TMobile controls the updates I'm not buying it from my TMobile

That would make me nervous, too. It wouldn't surprise me if the T-Mobile edition ends up lagging behind the direct-from-OnePlus edition with respect to updates.

If you are paying full price, better to buy from OnePlus direct which has two slim slots and probably quicker updates. Don't have to deal with crappy carrier phones. Just my 2 cents.

Question about this. If we go to store and pay outright how does the $300 trade in work. I have a old s8+ I want to trade in. Do they give me 300 off the 6t immediately?

Monthly bill credits for 24 months. Your phone is not considered "paid off" until the end of the 24 months.

You can pay the off prior to the 24 months. You just have to pay the whole amount and you will continue to get the bill credit for the reminder of the 24 months. I know this because I did the buy get one free S9+ deal. Paid off and sold both and I an still getting the $30 bill credit.
