T-Mobile -- System Update LG V10

My battery life has gotten significantly better, but I've also been changing some of my habits to take advantage of doze more, as well as using a smartwatch.

Well, it looks like we'd better enjoy this update because we may not be receiving another one. Updating our phones to Android 7 is a "might" or "perhaps," according to the latest reports. This phone is less than a year old and LG is giving us a "might"? This is a flagship phone (until the V20 is released). Why would there even be a question about updating to the latest OS? It's a great phone! I'm sure it would be even better with the features of Nougat are added. So why would there even be any hesitation? They're saying they may leave it up to the carriers. Are you kidding me?! Are they forcing us to spend more money on the V20 just to sell us a new phone? Then what would guarantee that the V20 would receive Android 8 in the future? I don't know about the rest of you, but I refuse to have to buy a new phone every year just to get the latest OS. Am I pissed? You could say that. And so should all the other V10 users. LG, you've not only dropped the ball, you've deflated it.

You hit the nail with an issue with Android and it's hardware partners. You are only guaranteed updates with Nexus phones and that is for 2 years (I believe). I've been through many updates (mainly with Motorola) and most of time I replace the phone shortly after 2 years of ownership. If we do get N, it won't be till next spring if we are lucky. By then, I'm only a couple months out before I start looking for my replacement.

Anyone feeling that making a phone call takes an awful long time to connect post update?

Also the comments above, if this phone doesn't receive an Android Nougat update it'll likely be a long time before I consider LG again. If a manufacturer doesn't want to support me, why should I continue to support them. I've owned a lot of LG phones and tablets.

I said that about Samsung. I won't buy Samsung ANYTHING after they bricked my Galaxy S3. They knew the software was bad, the complaints were all over the place, everyone had problems, but they still let it happen.

For me, not getting Android 7 is small potatoes compared to what Samsung did. I like LG's hardware, their software, their feature set, and their overall take on how to do a phone. If the only tradeoff is that they insist on going the carrier route instead of selling unlocked and they end up not providing updates as fast or as much as what Nexus phones get, I'll take it.

Just received the update don't know if I should install it yet don't want to be the guinea pig

I noticed that. When I call, nothing, then caller on the other end - "Hello, hello?" like they can't hear me for the first second.

hey y'all. i am having the same no ringing problem since updating the system a couple of days ago, and this new problem:

when i restart the phone i hear the t-mobile jingle. did something change? can i change it back? i definitely did not hear the jingle on start up with the previous system. also i am using nova express if that helps (or hurts).

any suggestions greatly appreciated. thank you!!

yes. The answer to this problem is, turn off VoLTE in call settings.

Customer care just had me do this; in addition, to make sure, they also had me turn my phone off so they could "refresh" my account so the phone would get the refresh when it powered back up. Don't know if that was necessary or not.

Regardless, I now have the ringing sound back in outbound calls.

I would say, if turning off VoLTE doesn't solve the problem, power your phone off and then on--and if that doesn't solve the problem, for sure call customer care and have them do a refresh.

This problem is now solved, and the question is answered.

Turned off VoLTE and now have the dial tone back. We can expect a fix?

Except this isn't really a fix. Thanks to tmobile coverage, there are many areas near me where volte is all the coverage you got (band 12). Disable that option and you'll loose ability to call in several places. That being said, this phone has always given me problems with volte. Not just mine but my wife's V10 as well. Calls refusing to dial in LTE. Calls dropping LTE service after just a few min to 3G (and even dropping down to 2G after that). My mom has a galaxy grand prime and doesn't have these issues. At this point, I'm just assuming phone calls on LTE is an issue with this phone and it just won't get fixed (yes, I did resets on both phones and even switched sim cards. Nothing worked)

No security updates at all. Only time we've gotten those is when there is a OS upgrade or otherwise. This phone has seen exactly 2 updates. Once for marshmallow, and this recent one. That's it.
