So I see that T-Mobile announced that they will be supporting the Universal RCS profile sometime in quarter 2 which just started. I was chatting with a T-Mobile rep and was told that it has rolled out already and that the Pixel isn't supported and that it would be only certain phones which doesn't seem to be a Universal profile then. Does anyone know any more about this? Should the Pixel be supported? Is there any way that we will know when it is actually rolled out running on the network?

RCS replaces SMS as the protocol for messaging, as well as file transfers and a few other things, but the carrier has to support it (the same as they did for SMS - it wasn't universal when it started). T-Mobile may start supporting some parts of it by the end of Q2, but it's not scheduled to be fully implemented (at all - by the industry) until around the end of Q4. Then it's up to the user or Google to update apps to support whatever falls out.

It's like 2004 - we have to wait and see. (In 2004 you couldn't send MMS between carriers until they worked out the kinks. I lost a lot of customers - non-Verizon dealer - because of that.)

10 days left in the second quarter. probably another TMobile lie. like their coverage map

T-Mobile has announced that this profile will only be supported on the S7 and S7 Edge to start with. Later, more phones will be added.
