If you're looking to not use minutes you should try Google Voice. You can use Google Voice over WiFi and Cellular for calls and text with no minute charge. By you being on Tmobile you won't be able to link it with your existing number, but there is nothing wrong with having two numbers is there?

Test it out. Keep a note of your Pre-Paid minutes time and then do a test by using the Wi-Fi Calling. I have a non Pre-Paid plan and it's free calls through the Wi-Fi Calling. No minutes are deducted while I make calls through Wi-Fi Calling.

On pre-paid, wifi calling does use up minutes.
